The Mission 2001

The Mission 2001 was a radical pioneering roadshow that changed the landscape of contemporary dance. This performance tour, and educational programme, paved the way for the support and development of Black choreographers and their work in the UK over the coming years.

The Mission 2001 launched State of Emergency as the champion of cutting edge new work and represented the impressive array of talent and variety at large in the UK, highlighting the contemporary Black British experience from its many perspectives, to a wide audience, and challenging misconceptions.
