The Mission 2003
The Mission 2003 brought together Maria Ryan, Irven Lewis, Bawren Tavaziva, Michael Joseph, and Robert Hylton, five young choreographers with rising reputations. All were formally trained but brought different influences from a range of other dance genres including African and Caribbean, and urban contemporary culture, combining traditional and modern forms of dance. Each piece stood in its own right as an uncompromising statement on the richness and vitality of Black dance and its ability to challenge our perceptions of modern life.
